NEIGHBOURS say they will not give up fighting an application for an extra home in their cul-de-sac, after a developer won planning permission.

Councillors gave permission for the house to be built in the garden of an existing home in Harrison Drive, North Weald, at a meeting last night.

Neighbour Alan Buckley, 69, who spoke on behalf of Harrison Drive and Wheelers Farm Gardens residents at the meeting, said: “We’re bitterly disappointed.

“This is just plain and simple garden grabbing, which this government has sworn to dispense with.

“It’s an infringement in terms of amenity space.”

He said he would look into what neighbours could do to challenge the decision.

Councillors voted to allow the plans on the advice of planning experts, who said the garden space provided for the house had been extended since previous applications last year and was now acceptable.
