A GIRL has won a scholarship to study fashion journalism.
Katie Clarke, of Templeton Avenue in Chingford, was one of just five people in the UK who were awarded the £1,280 scholarship from Avon Foundation after her mother Lorraine applied on her behalf.
The Avon representative was eligible to apply for the grant for Katie after selling a high number of beauty products for the make up company.
The money can be used to fund tuition, school fees, room and board, books or Miss Clarke's transportation to and from the University of Creative Arts, where she is due to start a degree in fashion journalism this year.
The 18-year-old said: "I am really looking forward to starting fashion journalism at University of Creative Arts and this money will go a long way in helping me. Thank you mum and to Avon for giving us this reward and opportunity!"
