THREE 16-year-old boys have been arrested after a delivery man was shot in the neck and chest.

It is thought to have happened in Eastleigh Road, on the Priory Court Estate in Walthamstow, sometime after 10pm on Saturday (August 18).

Police say they were alerted to the incident after being called to St James's Street on the other side of Walthamstow at 10.55pm that night.

The victim, a 19-year-old, was rushed to hospital in a stable condition but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

It is thought the weapon may have been a high-powered BB gun, although this has not been officially confirmed by police.

The Guardian understands the man was shot through the window of his vehicle and had just dropped off a delivery moments before.

The boys were arrested that night on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The incident is not thought to be gang-related.

The Guardian is awaiting further details and an update from police.
