TWO men have been charged with attempted murder over a stabbing that happened less than half a mile from the Olympic Park on the night of the Games opening ceremony.
Police have only today revealed that an 18-year-old man suffered puncture wounds in both his lungs at Snowberry Close, off Crownfield Road in Leytonstone, at 7pm on Friday July 27.
He was so badly hurt both lungs had to be re-inflated.
The victim was also stabbed a third time in his stomach but that injury was less serious, police say.
A Met spokeswoman said there had been a "lengthy" investigation since and two men have now been arrested and charged.
Abdul Azam, 24, of Studley Road in Forest Gate, and Levi Miller, 20, of Waddington Street in Stratford, will appear at Thames Magistrates Court today (Wednesday August 29).
