A travel business is celebrating 40 years in the sector with a staff weekend away and by purchasing two brand new coaches.

South Woodford-based Dans Luxury Travel was established in 1974 and staff will celebrate the milestone with a weekend at Potters Leisure Resort in Great Yarmouth.

Managing director Dan Brown, 64, also purchased two new Chinese King Long 74 seat coaches this week, which will bring in an estimated £60-80,000 a year to the business.

The company caters for sightseeing tours, station and airport transfers, weddings, clubs and associations, and school trips.

Dans Luxury Travel took over West's Coaches in November 2012 when Bob West retired, increasing Mr Brown's coach fleet from 15 to 40 and adding £1.5million to the value of the business in the process.

Mr Brown, who used to work as a bus driver in central London, remembers the humble beginnings of his business.

He said: “It is amazing we have made it to 40 years and we are going to celebrate by treating the staff to a five star resort in Norfolk, we all deserve it after the work we have put in.

“It was only meant to be a little part time job at the beginning, I started with just one minibus which I drove myself but the business just grew and grew, look where we are now.

"Taking over Bob's company in 2012 was the turning point and now we have over 50 vehicles. I am delighted to welcome two of our biggest coaches into the fleet. They will really expand the business and help us to keep growing.”
