A mother-of-two inspired by her struggle to find fashionable and convenient Asian clothing to wear while pregnant and breastfeeding has set up her own website.

Ranjeet Khare, of High Road, Woodford Green launched her Asian maternity and nursing brand, Bebstyle, two months ago.

She sells over 40 outfits from her website, bebstyle.com, to make it easier to breastfeed babies discreetly, using clothing with lycra and leak proof material, while looking fashionable during pregnancy.

The website is currently selling into mainland Europe and UK and she said it will be available in North America shortly.

Ms Khare, whose son and daughter are now one and five-years-old respectively, said she launched the brand two months ago out of frustration while attending weddings.

The 41-year-old said: “I had three brothers get married in three years and I was either heavily pregnant or breastfeeding at each one.

“If you don’t know, Asian weddings are big occasions where fashion is very important and I felt forgotten about as there was nothing convenient to wear.

“Breastfeeding was really hard, I had to lock myself in the toilet and take my dress off.

“The idea came to me like a lightning bolt in the middle of the night that I should start my own business because there isn’t any visible maternity or nursing wear offered to Asian women in the UK.

“Since launching the response has been fantastic, people have told me how they wish they had clothing like this when they were pregnant.

“Women who are pregnant and breastfeeding can still be mobile and go out and have fun.

“The aim of the bebstyle is to provide style, comfort and practical maternity wear empowering Asian women to show off their bumps.”
