A SCHOOL held its first ever exhibition in a local gallery.
Parents and teachers attended the show to see pupils aged between 11 and 16 years old, from Normanhurst School in Station Road, Chingford, display their work for the one-night event yesterday.
These included paintings, printmakings, drawings, ceramics and collages.
Moyo Ajibade, 11, said: “It was a bit nerve wracking to think of my art next to professional artists work, but when I saw it, it was great and my parents were very impressed.
“All the paintings were properly framed and hung, it looked really special.”
Payam Beint, Head of Art at the school, said: "I am incredibly proud of our pupils and the Art House Gallery is such a fitting venue to showcase their work.
“It is important for us as teachers to really value the work of our pupils and what better way than to show their work in a professional environment."
Peter Reid, co-owner of the Arthouse Gallery in Station Road, said: “It is a real pleasure to see so many children and parents in our gallery, who are very supportive of their children's art and really encourage them to do more.”
The school has said it hopes to hold another exhibition in the future at the gallery.
