THE girl guide leader is preparing to fulfil a demanding role at the Olympics.

Janice Pettit, 58, who manages funds and organises events for guide groups in Chingford, Wanstead and Woodford, will take on a role with the 2012 media team.

She said: "This is a fantastic opportunity and a once in a lifetime experience.

"The skills I have learnt from over 40 years as a guide leader will stand me in good stead for the role that I am to play during the Olympics.

"I am really looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity to meet people from all across the world."

Ms Pettit was one of 70,000 people picked from 240,000 applicants to become volunteer "Games Makers".
