Noisy emergency works to a collapsed motorway embankment are due to restart today.

The company responsible for repairing the embankment of the M11 between junctions five and six, Connect Plus, expects the first part of the work to last until the end of the month.

The company told Loughton Town Council that the emergency work was started before Christmas to stabilise the embankment after a major landslide.

Chief executive Tim Jones said in a letter: “It will be necessary to undertake pilling work to stabilise the embankment and therefore some operations will be noisy.

“We will keep these activities to a minimum and the hammering piling work will cease at 11pm.”

Two lanes of the motorway are due to be closed while the work takes place.
