Boy seriously injured in High Ongar collision

Police are seeking witnesses after a young boy was seriously injured when he was knocked from his bike in a crash yesterday morning.

He was riding his bike along the A414 in High Ongar when it collided with a red Vauxhall Corsa being driven by a man in his 40s at the junction with Forest Lodge Road on Sunday just after 11.10am.

The boy, from High Ongar, suffered serius injuries and was taken by ambulance to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.

Police closed the road between the junction and Four Wantz roundabout after the collision but it has since been reopened.

The driver, from Burnham, was travelling towards Chelmsford.

No arrests have yet been made and police are due to check the boy's condition later today.

Witnesses are asked to call PC Timothy Hardy-Wallace on 101.
