Reality TV show, The Only Way Is Essex, has attracted hundreds of people to the Epping Forest District in recent months, a tour guide company has announced.

Brit Movie Tours brings coach loads of TOWIE tourists from all over the world to the clothes shops, beauticians and bars, featured in the BAFTA award winning show, each month.

Company director, Lewis Swan, said that the £22 per person tickets are so popular that they must be booked several months in advance.

He said: “Over the next few months the tour is completely sold out.

“We bring people from all over the UK and as far as Australia. They love it.”

The four hour long tour tours, chauffer fans to shops owned by some of the reality stars in Queens Road, Buckhurst Hill and Loughton High Street, as well as Brentwood and Chigwell.

Neighbouring shops have also been reaping the rewards of the TOWIE tours as they say that visiting shoppers also spend in their stores.

Staff at Forest Casual and School Wear, next door to TOWIE star, Jessica Wright’s, boutique store, said that the presence of the shops is boosting their sales.

Claire Forster, 22, said: “Since they arrived we have started to get customers from all over the country, especially people from Manchester and Liverpool.”

“It is really good for people in Loughton because high streets are closing down all over the place, but here we are getting more business.”

Leader of the Council, Chris Whitbread said that the ITV2 show has had a great effect on tourism in the district.

He said: “TOWIE has done a lot of good for the area; they have really pushed Essex forward.

“We want Epping Forest to have a good commercial feel to it.”

First of all its Loughton High Road, not Street...

But Loughton already had a low shop vacancy rate as compared to other areas, even before TOWIE even started.

I began the Love Loughton and Love Buckhurst Hill websites because this is a popular area when TOWIE hadn't even been thought of. (plug, but true!)

I'm not saying that there hasn't been increased interest from outside our area due to TOWIE, but you cannot claim TOWIE has saved Loughton in any way.
