Budding Loughton actors achieve top marks in drama qualification
Budding actors have celebrated a record set of drama results at a school last week.
Pupils at Roding Valley High School in Alderton Hill, Loughton, all achieved passes with distinction in the London Academy of Music and Arts (LAMDA) examinations they recently sat.
All 26 of the pupils achieved the high grade after working with Head of Expressive Arts Louise Walker and Head of Year Seven Tanya Ogunbiyi as part of an extra-curricular programme.
Mrs Walker said: “The pupils worked incredibly hard on their performance pieces and were dedicated to attending both the after-school club and their one-to-one sessions with their chosen teacher.”
The students were required to learn two script extracts that demonstrated their performance skills and be able to recall information about their chosen characters and storyline during a questioning session.
She said: “I really enjoyed doing LAMDA. It was my first time doing a solo so I was surprised how well I did.
“I worked really hard on the pieces and even came to school on weekends to work on my script with Mrs Walker.”
