NIGHTCLUB One9Five has had its licence suspended following the weekend's mass brawl in Epping High Street.
The popular nightspot was told this morning to shut down by Epping Forest Council after a request by Essex Police.
A total of 13 people were taken to hospital following the "large-scale disorder", which happened at around 2.25am on Saturday (September 26) outside the club in Cottis Lane and in the High Street.
Witnesses have told the Guardian how a gang of men turned up at the scene in a van armed with knives and screwdrivers, and began randomly attacking drinkers.
There have been conflicting accounts of what sparked the violence, but today the owner of the Edge Bar, which is next door to One9Five, said his premises had nothing to do with the disturbance.
A spokesman for Epping Forest District Council said police had made the application over concerns about “serious crime and serious disorder”.
The owners of One9Five have objected to the suspension, which means the council will meet again next week to review the decision.
The club's licence remains suspended until the hearing, but so far no date has been set for when it will be held.
No-one from Club One9Five has been available for comment.
Meanwhile the Guardian understands one of those seriously injured in the rampage was stabbed in the throat with a screwdriver, and was initially judged to be in a life-threatening condition by medical staff.
The unnamed man, in his early 20s, had to have an emergency tracheostomy operation after the attack left him unable to breath.
He is to remain in hospital for at least four more weeks but is expected to recover.
A 46-year-old man from Harlow was arrested and bailed till December on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following the mayhem.
Police have been unable to confirm whether anyone else has since been arrested.
Officers are still appealing for witnesses to the violence to come forward to help with their inquiries.

some poor sod who tried to help him got his teeth kicked clean out of his head

The Police and Newspapers have a duty to report accurate facts. I hear this was not a brawl or a fight, which insinuates willingness on both sides. This was a gang of upto 30 black men, who ferociously attacked random white lads who were outside either talking to girls or having a cigarette just before turn out. It was the most horrific attack of immense proportions with several white lads lying on the floor surrounded in their own blood while the black gang repeatedly stamped on and kicked them even whilst unconcious. As a parent you would be devastated. The injuries sustained where truly shocking. I feel desperately sorry for the parents of all these lads. Its unimagineable the trauma that the lads' minds and bodies have suffered, scarred now for life, as they were stabbed, beaten, slashed and many were glassed across their faces, they had to draft in specialist facial injury surgeons to sew up all the faces, imagine if that was your child. Some were just out celebrating with friends who were off to University, 18 years old, not men in their early 20's. If there had been a police presence outside this club, which according to what I have heard/read, has been a problem for a long time, this would NOT have happened. Shockingly, from what I am told, the bouncers failed to help in anyway and just left the lads like lambs to their slaughter! If the boot was on the other foot, it would be headline news!!! If the police have only arrested one 46 year old man, then for the sake of the lad who was, by all accounts "critical", and for all the other innocent victims maimed in this psychopathic attack, and for public safety, put the CCTV evidence on Crimewatch!

As a parent to one of the victims I urge you, and the others, to write to the local authorities and insist that this kind of incident should never happen again on our streets.
I believe that Club95 should be shut down and an example set to others who run such places that the GOOD PEOPLE surrounding them will not tolerate this anymore.

In my mind any such hazard should be removed by those responsible for the safety of the general public.
If that means shutting the place down and upsetting the business interests of the few then "TOUGH".
The safety and well being of the majority is what matters here.

But surely those selling the drink and only interested in their profits who should foot the bill. If they were forced to pay compensation to the victims and police see how quick they would clean up their act!
