A MAN from Chigwell is among 22 people said to have been involved in mass scenes of violence when West Ham played Millwall in August this year.
Anthony Thomson, 19,unemployed, of Brocket Way, Chigwell, appeared at Stratford Magistrates Court today (November 27) charged with violent disorder. He did not enter a plea and will next appear on January 14, 2010.
Along with Thomson, 21 other people appeared at the court in relation with the events of August 25 when West Ham and Millwall fans clashed at the football match, leaving three people requiring hospital treatment.
Nine men have so far pleaded guilty to offences related to the match.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Tucker, who heads up the investigation into the disorder, said: "The level of disorder witnessed that night was absolutely unacceptable and not at all in the spirit of what football matches are all about.
“Those who played a part in the events of that night should know that our investigation continues and we are making every effort to arrest them and hold them accountable for their actions."
