TRANSPORT for London (TfL) has denied rumours that it is considering extending the Central underground line further into the district.
There have been reports this week that a feasibility study is currently underway into the possibility of extending the track north of Epping Forest to Harlow.
But a TfL spokeswoman said: "There is a well established rail link from Harlow into London, which stops at Tottenham Hale to link in with the Tube.
"Extending the Tube well outside of London to Harlow would not bring any journey time benefit to passengers who travel to the city, but would involve huge costs.”
The line previously extended to the east of the district terminating at Ongar, but that section of track was closed in September 1994.
