AN inquest has been opened into the death of a pedestrian hit by a car in Theydon Bois.
John Eldred died after being hit by a silver Vauxhall Corsa as he walked on the road outside the village hall in Coppice Row.
Paramedics rushed Mr Eldred, of Hemnall Street in Epping, to Whipps Cross University Hospital in Leytonstone, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The 56-year-old died of multiple traumatic injuries, but the exact cause of death will be subject to an inquest, opened and adjourned on Wednesday, March 10.
No arrests have yet been made.
