EPPING: Elderly cyclist dies in road crash

East London and West Essex Guardian Series: Houblons Hill Houblons Hill

A 70-YEAR-OLD male cyclist has died after a road crash in Epping.

The man, from Ongar, had been cycling in Houblons Hill, when he was involved in a fatal collision with a Mercedes Sprinter van at 2.45pm yesterday (June 17).

He was taken to Princesss Alexandra Hospital, in Harlow, by ambulance but died a short time later.

The van driver, a 52-year-old man from Harlow, was uninjured.

A section of the road was closed for approximately four hours while forensic collision investigators tried to establish the cause of the crash.

Any witnesses to this collision are asked to contact investigating officers at Chigwell Road Policing Unit on 0300 333 4444.
