THE chief executive of Essex County Council was the fourth best paid council boss out of 151 across the country last year according to figures from the GMB union.
Joanna Killian took home £285,152 making her the most expensive council chief executive in the east of England.
Only the bosses of Cumbria, Wandsworth and Kent earned more.
Paul Hayes, the union’s regional secretary said: “Council workers will be sickened to learn how much their bosses are creaming off and the levels of their bosses’ pay. This at a time when councils say they are hard up and are slashing jobs and services.”
