PETS in North Weald got dressed up and jumped through hoops for the village's first ever dog show on Saturday.
Owners put their dogs through their paces in the show ring and dressed them in all kids of costumes, from fairies to Dingo the dinosaur from The Flintstones.
Chairman of the village hall committee and show organiser Nicky Dorras said: “Fred and Wilma Flintstone were very good. I saw them while I was commentating and until that point, I thought a Rottweiler dressed as a fairy was going to win.
“It was a great day and the response was fantastic. For the first event, we had about 30 dogs in the ring.
“I don't know if any puppies were made, but I didn't see any fighting and all the dogs were well-behaved.”
The village green show included 12 categories, including the scruffiest dog, which won a set of dogs' head cigarette cards from 1929.
Dogs from the Kenjutsu display team provided entertainment by jumping through hoops and tunnels.
Mr Dorras said he wanted to involve as much of the community as possible and hoped the show would be even bigger next year.
The event raised £400 for the Rottweiler Rescue Trust, Woodford Green Animal Shelter, Southern Lurcher Rescue, Mutts in Distress and Cats Protection.
