WALTHAM ABBEY: Fire crews called to large factory blaze

FIREFIGHTERS from across the district have been helping out at a large factory fire.

Fire engines from Waltham Abbey and Loughton were among the first to respond to a blaze which broke out in an industrial estate this morning.

At least eight appliances attended the scene at around 7.20am, when 2,000 litres of diesel caught fire at a factory, in Bryanstone Road, Waltham Cross, over the border from Waltham Abbey.

Paramedics were called at 7.52am. Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson who also attended the incident said: “Thankfully there were no casualties reported. We did treat a boy aged six for minor breathing problems earlier this morning, but he did not require to go to hospital.”

Fire crews are using two aerial ladder platforms and eight hoses to tackle the fire.
