A TRAINING session will be held for those interested in volunteering to encourage their communities to recycle more.
It is estimated by the government that each household in the country pays approximately £9 a week towards the cost of disposing of binned food in landfill sites and a third of the food thrown out could be composted.
Essex County Council is looking for 'Waste Buster' volunteers to inform people of how they can compost food and other organic waste at home by holding workshops, hosting drop-in information sessions and talking to community groups.
Those interested in taking part are invited to a training event in Epping Hall, St John’s Road, on Thursday, March 1, from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
All who sign up to the scheme will have all of their travel expenses reimbursed and receive a free 12 month subscription to the Garden Organic charity, which provides a range of organic gardening products, on completion of 10 hours of volunteering.
