A BUS driver was robbed of his takings after he was apparently threatened with a gun.

Police say two men boarded a 251 bus as it stopped outside Jubilee Court, on Waltham Abbey's Ninefields estate, at about 9.20pm last night (Wednesday).

One of the men said he had a gun and demanded cash from the driver before taking a small amount of money from the coin drawer and running off into the Ninefields estate.

Both men were black, about 6f tall and of medium build. One was wearing a black hooded anorak with a white Nike tick logo on the back while the other wore a light silver-grey hooded top. Both had their hoods pulled tightly around their faces.

Detective Sergeant Kevin Shannon, of Waltham Abbey CID, has urged anyone with information about the robbery to come forward.

He said: "One of the men said he had a gun and demanded money. We're not certain if he did have a firearm as the driver only saw something which he thought might have been a handgun."

Anyone with information should ring Waltham Abbey CID on 0300 333 4444 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
