Harlow has seen a seven per cent reduction in overall crime against the same period last year, with burglary down by a quarter.
This has meant 269 fewer victims of crime in the town, with Harlow also having the highest overall solved crime rate in Essex.
Chief Inspector Justin Smith said: “My focus will be centred around a closely-knit community spirit to ensure criminals are brought to justice.”
Essex Police have been achieving success through the use of neighbourhood policing teams building partnerships within the local community.
