An annual awards ceremony founded to celebrate the achievements of young black people in Waltham Forest marks its tenth anniversary next week.

The event by the Kreative Culture Klub (KCK) was established in 2003 to promote academic and cultural excellence while countering negative stereotypes.

Hundreds of people are expected at the event on Friday February 22 at Walthamstow Assembly Hall in Forest Road.

The Leyton-based group, which was founded in 1998, also holds weekly activities for young people, including classes in drama, street dance, ballet, cheerleading and music, performances - all of which will feature on the night.

Awards will be handed out by comedian, DJ and former teacher Geoff Schumann.

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Entry is £4 for under 17s, £8 for adults and is free for those aged under five.
