I recently visited the Empire Cinema with a friend and it was a great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, but when I tried to buy a hot dog, I found that there was only halal food on sale.

The large menu boards high on the wall behind the food bar did not state that the hot dogs were halal. It was only when the till was rung up that halal was displayed on it, I asked the assistant why there was not a choice between halal and regular food and he said it was because of the area.

All our cafes and supermarkets have been instructed to label their food so that customers know what they are buying.

Why has the Empire Cinema not given clear information about their food?

As a meat eater, I do not eat halal food because I disagree about the way the animal is slaughtered In multi-cultural Waltham Forest, it is only right and fair that clear information is given by our schools, our hospitals and the Empire Cinema about the contents of the food on offer, so that all people are given the CHOICE about the food they wish to eat.
