Always a diary date in music lovers' calendars, The Croydon Music Festival 2003 starts on April 25, presenting another exciting performing arts festival for the whole community.

Audiences are welcome at all events to listen and watch amateur performers of all ages, and to hear the professionals give constructive appraisal.

Something different is happening this year. On Tuesday, May 6 two percussion workshops are being held at Whitgift School, for the eight year olds and under. Also two young groups from Gilbert Scott Infants' School and Parkhill Junior School will be performing on their African drums in non-competitive classes.

Modern Jazz Dance Worshops are being held on June 15 at Fairfield with workshop leader Gerry Zuccarello. Those taking part will perform in the Festival Concert in the evening. There are still a few places left ( £5 charge) so call 020 8680 7802 for more details.

This weekend sees the festival start with Speech and Drama from April 25 to 27, and Harp on Saturday April 26.

Handbells, instrumental groups and composition section are heard on Wednesday, April 30.

All festival information is available from 020 8654 6713 and 020 8660 2786.
