ROB Davies has come on in leaps and bounds since I first saw him performing in the band Emily All Over more than two years ago. Then the sound was more progressive, intense and, from what I could tell by the crowd in the pub, it went straight over our heads.

A year on he floored me with his solo work on Vapour Trail. An engaging project with clever sampling and tricky arrangements which proved he was a songwriter with talent.

Now he's produced another CD full of his own work cunningly entitled Vapour Trail 2. The second-coming is a beautifully crafted five-track CD full of lilting, acoustic harmony.

Someday My Prince Will Come is very retro-Bowie in nature. Animal Charms has haunting guitar lines and piano arrangements. Vapour Trail is pure bliss. Get Better is achingly reflective and Acre Blue is just great.

Rob played all the instruments only enlisting the help of drummer Nobby of local band Buzz fame. Incidentally the pair also perform live together as part of a David Bowie tribute band, Hunky Dory.

Rob produced the whole recording over a period of three weeks and the result is the kind of music I like to put on, sit back and relax to.
