TRAFFIC chaos infuriated residents and shop owners after subsidence closed part of a road and council efforts at diverting drivers failed.
Part of Southborough Lane, Bromley, was closed off after the road surface cracked early last Tuesday morning.
Diversion signs were put up to direct traffic away from the area but drivers chose to short-cut through the narrow lane bordering the shops.
Muhammad Chaudhry, 34, owner of Supershop newsagents, said: "It has been very badly done, the layout is causing chaos as the traffic is running through here and it shouldn't be.
"It has definitely affected business as people can't park and elderly people, especially, are scared off by all the cars."
