A MOTORCYCLIST from Dartford was killed after his powerful bike brushed the kerb and careered out of control.

An inquest heard 25-year-old father-of-two Jamie MacKenzie, of Crayford Road, was an experienced rider.

On April 20, his 600cc Kawasaki hit the kerb as he pulled away from green traffic lights. He lost control and was killed instantly.

Mr MacKenzie's workmate Michael Jeffery was with him at the time of the accident and said: "I was on the outside lane. We moved off doing between 45 and 50 miles an hour. I saw his wheel hit the kerb and his bike left the road."

Witness James Burridge said, after hitting the kerb, Mr MacKenzie fell off and his head struck a lamppost.

Mr MacKenzie's helmet came off and bounced some distance.

Pathologist Dr Adam Coumbe said Mr MacKenzie had died from multiple injuries.

Deputy coroner John Sampson recorded an accident verdict.
