LONGFIELD HILL WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
We were kindly assisted at our AGM by WI Advisor Mrs Barbara Darvill and two members from Langafel WI. Mrs Jean Garrett was re-elected President and although five committee members were stepping down, we welcomed four new ones.
Mrs Darvill then entertained us with memories of her long association with the WI and the opportunities she had gained through volunteering' - an example to us all!
Members were pleased to learn that we raised more than £140 from the sale of cakes and a raffle at the District Christmas Fair in Longfield on November 9. The news that there is to be very sharp increase in our insurance cover wan not so welcome however.
The outgoing committee and the president were warmly thanked for their work over the past year and we look forward to another full and enjoyable programme of events for 2003.
The speaker at our meeting on December 12 will be Mrs Jean Lis, demonstrating Flowers for Christmas'.
