AN EXCITING finish featured when Westmorland Triathletes hosted their annual duathlon at Kendal Land Rover, Shap Road on Sunday.
A 90-strong field braved cold, stormy winds as they tackled an out-and-back 2.5-mile run towards Burneside and then took to wheels for a 12-mile bike ride up the A6 to Kendal Caravans before repeating the run.
Men's race winner Andrew Guy had just 15 seconds to spare as he came home in 1hr 4min 29sec to beat second-placed Steve Stretch (1-4.44) with John Deegan (1.5.33) taking third.
Top woman was Lou Sharp (1-12.31) with Nicola King (1-13.31) second and Corrina Crammer (1-14.45) third.
The first locals to finish were Ian Palmer and Jane Bowe.
Age-group honours went to Kevin Towers, John Hesketh, Marian Meredith, Peter Macdonald, Hannah Sheldon and Peter Knot.
