Sharks Swimming Club sent a 15-strong squad to the second of the two-day Reading Open Championships.

It was an early start for the swimmers after they had been celebrating the club's 20th anniversary the previous evening.

Even so, that did not stop the Sharks enjoying plenty of success with all winning medals, including nine golds.

Leading the way was Erith's Sarah-Louise Casey, who won three golds in the 100 metres backstroke, plus 50 and 100m butterfly. She also won silvers in the 4x25m freestyle and medley relays.

Adam Baker, from Welling, was a model of consistency, winning five silvers in the 100m backstroke, 50 and 100m breaststroke, plus the 4x25m freestyle and medley relays.

Sidcup's Samantha Mercer was the third member of ther squad to win five medals. She won gold in the 100m backstroke, double silvers in the 4x25m freestyle and medley relays, plus bronzes in the 50m backstroke and freestyle.

Beckenham's Jason Hills won gold in the 100m breaststroke, while winning three silvers in the 100m backstroke, plus 4x25m freestyle and medley relays.

Thamesmead's Kirtsy Turner was runner-up in four races the 50m freestyle and backstroke, as well as the 4x25m freestyle and medley relays.

Swanley's Iain Ambrose was another quadruple medalist. He won silvers in the 4x25m freestyle and medley relays together with 50m and 100m backstroke bronzes.

Dean Allen, from Mottingham, won gold in the 100m backstroke to go with his silvers in the 4x25m freestyle and medley relays.

Erith's Tina Rushbrook also won silvers in the 4x25m freestyle and medley relays, plus a 50m freestyle bronze.

Orpington's Corinna Beckett won a 4x25m freestyle relay silver, plus bronzes in the 50 and 100m breaststroke.

Daryl Beaumont, from Bromley, won gold in the 100m backstroke and a silver in the 50m freestyle, while Mottingham's Steve Rann won a 50m freestyle bronze.

Brockley's Ben Summers won just one medal, but it was the best a gold in the 50m freestyle which was a feat emulated by Mottingham's Kate Sheridan in the 50m backstroke.

Bexley's Jack Conie and Chislehurst's Laura Mitchell rounded off a great day for the Sharks by earning bronzes in the 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke respectively.
