IT was a lacklustre performance by the Generals against the side who are bottom of the Ryman Premier on Tuesday night.

Alhough Ford were a much better side than their position suggested, with John Buffong and Mervin Abrahams impressing in attack, it was two points lost for Chesham as they looked to build on Saturday's superb victory over Aldershot.

Ford, who had only won one point away from home all season, started the brighter and deservedly took the lead on 21 minutes. Delroy Preddie mis-read a corner and could only parry it, and Bradley Woodards was there to head home.

Chesham then woke up and Tresor Kandol should have scored but he failed to collect a superb pass from Darren Hay which would have put him in the clear. The ball was then transferred to the other end and Abrahams' shot on the half volley cannoned off the bar.

After the break, Andr Scarlett came on for Dave Fotheringham and immediately got into the action, showing over a Ford player and earning a booking.

But that seemed to spur Chesham on and on 55 minutes they were level when Kandol advanced into the area, holding off two challenges, and then released the ball for Tom Neill to run onto and shoot past Newell.

At the other end, Preddie made a superb finger tip save, flinging himself to his left, while Scarlett forced Newell into the save with a snap shot.

But on 78 minutes, Chesham went in front when the impressive Steve Sinclair slipped the ball through to Kandol and his shot found the corner of the goal.

Ford pressed for the equaliser but Chesham should have wrapped things up when Kandol was put in the clear, only for the assistant referee to wrongly put his flag up for offisde.

And the decision proved costly when Buffong's long throw was headed on by Woodards and it looped over Preddie and into the net for the equaliser.

Chesham boss Colin Lippiatt said: "We started very lethargically and looked as if we wanted them to score.

"In the second half, Steve Sincalir made a big difference and we scored two well-worked goals.

"I thought we could go and win it but then we give away a throw in and Woodards shows up and gets a flick on.

"We're not playing that well at home. We're looking patchy and we have to learn."

But Lippiatt pointed at injuries which forced Marcel Nugent and Julian Capone out, with Dave Fotheringham and Steve Dogbe also coming off injured to leave Chesham stretched in midfield.

Chesham play Hampton & Richmond Borough away on Saturday, with Lippiatt hoping for Nugent to be back, although Capone is doubtful after picking up an injury in Chesham's 2-1 victory on Saturday.

It was Capone who scored the Generals' first against the run of play.

And when Aldershot equalised on 75 minutes, Chesham went down the other end and Sinclair's perfect cross was met by Hay for the winner.

Preddie then earned his side the win and a yellow card when he took his time after Aldershot were awarded a penalty, and Paul Buckle hit the post.
