Victoria Beckham was the target of an alleged kidnap plot
The Victoria Beckham kidnap conspiracy case has folded because the prosecution's key witness has been deemed unreliable.
Five men were charged with conspiring to kidnap Mrs Beckham, the wife of England football captain David Beckham, on or before November 2 last year.
The case collapsed today at a hearing at Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court after the Crown Prosecution Service said the evidence of their key witness was unreliable.
Judge Simon Smith has referred the News of the World's role in the matter to the Attorney General after in evidence it was heard that the newspaper paid a convicted criminal £10,000 for the story.
