THE mind boggles how it was possible for presumbly a group of yobs to uproot and roll around one of the huge stone balls in High Wycombe town centre for some distance and not be seen.

But it is double boggle how our expensive CCTV system's operators did not spot and quickly call the police to the group slowly rumbling the ball around and then push it down steps by the Swan theatre.

It is costing a lot to retrieve the ball and resite it, plus the damage to the steps.

Surely the camera operators must have seen something as it all happened?

The same council tax payers who paid for the expensive CCTV system to cover a wide area of High Wycombe, and some of the the areas around it, now have to foot the big repair bill.

Wycombe District Council owe us a full explanation but I expect there will be silence as usual.
