February 19, 2001 17:56: TWO candidates will be contesting the by-election in the White Oak ward.
The contest has been left up to Labour and the Independent group as neither the Liberal Democrat Party or the Conservatives will field candidates for election.
Jack Searles will be campaigning as an independent candidate while Barrie Wigg, husband of Swanley mayor Councillor Barbara Wigg, will stand as Labour candidate.
The possibility of an election arose when the seat became vacant after Councillor Melissa Hills announced she would be stepping down and moving to Stone. The election date has been set for March 15.
