February 19, 2001 17:56: OFFICERS hunting for £10m of gold bullion stolen in the Brink's-Mat robbery have called off their latest search.
Market trader Kenneth Noye served eight years of a 14-year sentence for handling gold from the raid on the security depot in Heathrow after some was found in the garden of his West Kingsdown home.
He has since been jailed for life after stabbing a man to death in a road rage incident on the M25 in 1996.
Police were following leads indicating the missing gold might have been buried near to Hastings, in East Sussex. Nothing was found.
