AN ANGRY commuter has slammed unreliable train operators for repetitive excuses.

David Keable said his 7.57am train from Sidcup to Cannon Street is regularly cancelled.

Mr Keable, of Longlands Road, criticised operators Connex South Eastern not for its poor performance, but for always trotting out the same ambiguous excuse.

"The continuing `defective stock' story does annoy people. It gets a bit monotonous," he said. "I cannot believe that two or three times a week the same train has a defect."

Ken Gibbs of Connex said: "There could be any number of possible explanations, but generally speaking it is a mechanical fault of some kind."

He added: "We have had some difficulty with the door mechanisms of trains -- a problem we are addressing."
