A traffic warden was threatened with a six-inch hunting knife during a parking dispute in Enfield Town.

The 43-year old man was on patrol at the junction of London Road near the Townhose nightclub when he was threatened by a man who stepped out of a blue Ford Escort which bore no registration plates.

Police said the warden defended himself and the man ran off towards Enfield Town Park at around 12 noon last Monday.

Officers are searching for a man described as white, 5ft 6ins tall with cropped, black hair and wearing a grey hooded top.

He was accompanied by four other men who do not appear to have taken part in the assault, however, police are anxious to speak to them.

Two men are believed to be of south European origin. One man is described as 5ft 6ins tall and was wearing a white top and blue baseball cap.The other is around 5ft 10ins inches tall.

The third group member is described as white, 24 years-old and around 5ft 6ins tall with short, light brown hair. He was wearing a beige hat, jacket and jeans and was heard shouting at the traffic warden to get his attention before the attack.

The fourth man is white with cropped black hair and was wearing a sky blue t-shirt.

Later that day the assistant manager of the borough's parking enforcement department received two threatening phone calls. The speaker threatened to cut the throat of the traffic warden.
