The Northern Theatre Company will revive the comedy genius of Flanders and Swann at the Mick Jagger Centre on Friday. The Gasman Cometh is based on a repetitious poem full of despair at the damage done by the "gasman".
A home owner without gas asks the "gasman" to help. He tears out the skirting boards to find the main, which, in turn requires a "carpenter to put them back again."
And so the cycle continues.
Northern Theatre Company enjoyed an enthusiastic response with The Gasman Cometh at the Edinburgh Fringe last year, prompting them to go on national tour.
Actors Iain Thompson and Daniel Sproats will perform other Flaunders and Swann favourites, including The Hippopotamus, The Gun and Madeira M'Dear.
Sproats said: "If you don't come out smiling form ear to ear it will only be because you are still whistling the tunes."
