STAR TEACHERS that inspire and challenge in the classroom, can now be nominated for the teaching profession's own Oscars', and could win their school £25,000.
The National Teaching Awards are looking for the unsung heroes and heroines of the classroom, and are urging parents, pupils, governors and colleagues to get their nominations in before the February 9th deadline.
A spokesperson for the annual awards said they were to: honour working teachers, heads and teaching assistants who have made an outstanding contribution to education".
He said: "They provide everyone with the opportunity to give their outstanding teachers and teaching assistants the recognition they deserve.''
As well as the recognition, regional winners will receive a prize package of cash and equipment worth over £3,000 for their schools. National winners get a £25,000 package.

There are 10 categories to choose from, including Secondary Teacher of the Year' and a Lifetime Achievement' award.
