AFTER a win and two draws leading up to the end of the year, Glaxo Men suffered their first defeat for some time in the North West Men's League Premier Division when going down 4-2 at promotion-chasing Colwyn Bay.

Glaxo opened the scoring when Matt Cook slotted in from a slick passing movement but Bay equalised with a breakaway.

Cook converted a penalty stroke early in the second half to restore Glaxo's lead, but Bay struck back swiftly with a shoulder-charge leading to a penalty-stroke which produced a second equaliser.

Bay went ahead when a full-length dive to reach a cross produced a goal and added a fourth from a penalty-stroke when Dave Thompson raised a hand to protect his face.

Kendal Men kept in touch with the top three in the North West Men's League Division 5 North by completing a double over Liverpool Sefton with a 4-0 win on Merseyside.

Travel problems meant the visitors started with only 10 men, but Paul Evans justified his promotion to striker when he scored the opening goal after a good passing move.

combination work continued and Jon Elleray supplied a third, fastening on to a good crossfield pass at the top of the D. Rob Bradshaw, who worked tirelessly all game, cracked in a fourth goal to seal victory

Windermere Men continued their winning sequence in Cumbria Association matches at Troutbeck Bridge with an impressive 5-2 victory over Kirkby Stephen. First-half goals by Mike Hodgson, Richard Belk and Mark Gawne-Cain gave the home side a deserved advantage. Kirkby rallied after the

interval and produced a first goal and then an own-goal by Rob Parfitt.
