CHARLTON manager Alan Curbishley has joined the ongoing row over international fixture schedules after one of his players was faced with an exhausting five matches in nine days.

Jamaica have planned two friendlies against India in England tomorrow (Thursday) and this Sunday, and have included Addicks forward Kevin Lisbie in their squad.

But with Charlton playing Bolton last Saturday, and Spurs last night, followed by another London derby against West Ham on Saturday, Curbishley is furious at the demands being asked of his striker.

"The worst thing is that I can't do anything about it," fumed the Charlton boss. "Jamaica have organised these games and the only good thing about them is that they both take place in this country.

"I can't stop Kevin from playing in them, but it all seems ridiculous to me.

"We've just had a midweek set aside for international friend-lies and there's another planned for the first weekend in September. Why haven't they organised these games for the same time?"

If he plays, Lisbie will be aiming to double his current tally of international caps in the space of three days. He made his debut for Jamaica against the USA in May and then started for the first time against Nigeria, at Loftus Road, later the same month.

Jamaica play India at Vicarage Road, Watford tomorrow night and have a second game lined up at Wolves' Molineux ground on Sunday just 24 hours after Charlton play West Ham.

Curbishley addd: "I lost five players away for friendlies last week, and now another is going this week.

"Every manager will tell you they want to work with a complete squad and these distractions get in the way.

"We keep getting told that ways of aligning all the international friendlies are being looked at, but when is it going to happen?"

There was further international action for Charlton players last week with five Addicks away with their respective national teams.

Mark Kinsella created the Republic of Ireland's first goal in a 3-0 against Finland.

Dean Kiely collected his seventh cap as he was granted a rare start in goal by manager Mick McCarthy, but the most disappointed man on the night will have been Jonatan Johansson for the Finns.

Meanwhile, Radostin Kishishev was one of only three Bulgarian players who played the full 90 minutes of their 2-2 friendly draw with Germany, while Claus Jensen came on as a half-time substitute for Denmark and went close to adding a second goal in a 1-0 win over Scotland at Hampden Park.
