Young golfing sensationJonathan Bell has maintained his high profile status with more excellent performances both here and abroad.

Last week, the 10-year-old from Eltham was in record-breaking form when he competed in the Masters at Wycombe Heights.

Even though Jonathan was in the under-12 section, the age and size barrier proved no handicap to this highly talented youngster when he carded one-under par for the 18-hole tournament, lowering the course record in the process.

Two of his close friends have also been great form.

Tom Bayliss, who lives in Barnehurst and is seven-years-old, also played in the Masters in the under-eight category.

He shot a very fine 18-over par to finish second, having just two days earlier triumphed at Chelsfield Lakes.

There, Tom was playing in the Under-10 Kent Cubs Championship but, like Jonathan, showed that age and size are no match for class as he carded a seven-over par score of 34 to take the title.

And there was also a fine round from Dulverston Junior schoolboy Freddie Price at Chelsfield Lakes.

The eight-year-old from Sidcup finished second, just two strokes behind Tom, on 36.

Steve Bayliss, Tom's father, said: "I am very proud of my son, because he has been through a lot in the last few weeks and handled the pressure brlliantly."

The main pressure to which Steve refers was the Junior World Champion-hips, held in America, where Freddie and Jon-athan also played.
