POSTERS highlighting the valuable work of foster carers in looking after children and young people are appearing on buses throughout Hertfordshire.

The month-long campaign started on Monday, August 26, and the illustrated posters carry the message "Hertfordshire needs foster carers for teenagers" along with the family placement service's freephone number.

It is the latest stage of Hertfordshire County Council's commitment to raise awareness of fostering and recruit more carers.

Family placement senior practitioner Sandra Douglas said: "We are still especially looking for foster carers for teenagers who are separated from their families and need a supportive home at a difficult stage of their lives."

Foster carers are also needed to look after children and young people once or twice a month to give them a chance to develop new interests as well as giving their parents or full time carers a break.

If you would like an information pack on fostering contact the family placement service on freephone 0800 9170925.
