A FEMALE shop assistant handed over hundreds of pounds in takings after being threatened at gunpoint.

Two robbers burst into Threshers wine shop, in Parrock Road, Gravesend, over the Golden Jubilee bank holiday and demanded cash.

The men threatened the assistant with a handgun before making off out of the back of the shop into Old Road East.

They were seen clambering over a wall at the rear of the shop but it is not known whether they escaped on foot or in a car.

Investigating officer Gary Deal said: "We would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have seen them once they climbed over the wall. From there we have no details of which direction they took."

Both men are white and between 20 and 25 years old. One is about 6ft tall, stocky and wore a white baseball cap with the word "Henry" printed on it and a cream coloured coat.

The other is slim, about 5ft 6ins tall and has bucked front teeth.

He was dressed all in black with a woolly hat, coat, jogging bottoms and sunglasses.

Anyone with information about the incident on Tuesday, June 4, at 12.30pm should call DC Deal on 01322 283154 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
