PUPILS at Windermere Church of England schoolnow have a better reason than most schoolchildren to gaze out of thewindow after a local artist produced a special stained glass window basedon their designs.

Sarah Sutton, a specialist in stained glasswho learned her craft in Italy, produced a window depicting the LakeDistrict hills lakes and farms, from children's designs and the window isnow on display in the entrance hall of the juniorschool.

Sarah, whose Northern Lights studio is in Kendal, usedeight main designs but took detail from a further 125 as part of an `artists in residence week.' The finished window represents work from allyear groups in the school.

Windermere CE junior school hasrecently been awarded the prestigious Artsmark by the Arts Council ofEngland in recognition for its excellent creativeeducation.
