March 8, 2001 15:18: CRYSTAL Palace Sports Centre is to host a sports tournament called Generation Games involving more than 300 children from local primary schools.
The free event will take place on March 22, from 10am to 4pm, and the children will take part in a range of sports including netball, basketball and "fun" athletics.
They will meet representatives from community groups, voluntary organisations, local residents and support groups from the area.
Jan Sharrock, spokesman for regeneration project, the Crystal Palace Partnership, which is organising the event, said: "It is certainly a sports tournament, but the emphasis will not be on competition.
"It's more a chance for local children to meet up with each other and to learn about the sort of things happening in the voluntary sector."
