Police say they have no more leads in the investigation into the murder of a South Norwood man who died just yards from his home.

Detective Inspector Steven Wagstaff told an inquest that Geoffrey Houghton Windsor's death had been the subject of a murder inquiry, after his body was discovered on June 26, 2002, at 1.52am at the entrance to Beaulieu Heights Park, South Norwood Hill.

But DI Wagstaff said the investigation into the Liverpudlian-born messenger in the city would remain open.

The inquest ruled that Mr Houghton Windsor, from Brae Court, who suffered fatal head injuries, died as a result of unnatural causes.

Croydon Coroner's Court heard on May 15 that he received 24 separate injuries while in the park.

The court heard how police officers had found Mr Houghton Windsor's body lying beneath a tree after being called to the scene by a passer-by.

Police had been treating the murder of Mr Houghton Windsor as a homophobic attack as Beaulieu Heights is a well-known meeting place for gay men.
