Salfords Primary School has come on in leaps and bounds since it was last inspected in 1997 due to its strong leadership, teamwork and well behaved children, according to its latest Ofsted report.

The school was inspected again this month and Ofsted inspector Hilary Bonser said the school was good with many strong features.

She added: "The quality of teaching is good and pupils achieve well overall by the time they leave the school."

In the report the school was praised for its success in addressing weaknesses highlighted in the last report.

Children with special needs or who do not speak English as their first language were seen to have made good progress.

Headteacher for the past five years Di Trainor, was praised for providing "strong leadership" for the school along with her team of staff and governors.

Mrs Trainor was delighted with the progress made. She said: "The many strong features at the school are having a positive impact on standards, behaviour and the pupils' attitude, which enhances learning. Good teamwork, mutual support and dedication towards improving the quality of teaching and learning for pupils continues to be at the core of our aims and objectives."
